Unconventionality

Based on its unrivalled strength and competence, KPU shows a new model of university-industry convergence.

KPU has built a specialized university-industry cooperation base and made a new collaborative model such as the Partner Company program and EH to maximize interdisciplinary competency.
Opening the era of the ¡°University-Industry Convergence 3.0 Initiative,¡± KPU continues to seek active innovations by creating a virtuous circle of graduation and employment, and the mixture of theories and hands-on experiences.

The Partner Company System is KPU¡¯s signature brand and many other universities at home and abroad have benchmarked the system.

The program promotes the mutual exchange of technology between universities and businesses; collaborative research and development; and students¡¯ field training.
Since introduced in 2000 for the first time in Korea, the program has been adopted by other universities for their own university-industry cooperation. The government uses the results of the program as a major indicator of the cooperation. KPU has established a strong network with about 4,000 partner companies.

¡®Engineering House(EH)¡¯ is an educational model that combines education and R&D in collaboration with the local companies.

EH experiments with unique industrial-academic joint projects to focus on R&D and education. Companies and professors can jointly research, while students learn hands-on knowledge from companies, and professors conduct their research as well as teach students with the practical technologies of the field.
Furthermore, KPU makes an efforts to help students kick off their own start-ups by taking advantage of the creative technologies and infrastructure of EH.

¡®Techno Innovation Park (TIP)¡¯ is a unique university-industry cooperation venue that mixes field training, R&D, and residence.

Built for the purpose of engineering education, R&D and for residence, TIP is the first of its kind in Korea. With the EH at the center, TIP offers engineering education for students and promotes the technological development of small and mid-sized companies around the clock. Thanks to the combined efforts of professors, students and researchers from local companies, TIP has earned a high reputation for the contribution to establishing a groundbreaking model of engineering education in the country to meet the growing demands of industry.
