Introduction

The Korean Language Program

The Korean Language Program at KPU has been developed to prepare foreign students to study at Korea Polytechnic University. It is a full emersion class focused on listening comprehension and speaking ability, as well as reading and writing. Basic grammar and vocabulary will be thoroughly covered for both those students without any previous knowledge of Korean and advanced learners. Language learning is acquired through a variety of classroom activities and projects. The KLP classes are focused on student¡¯s needs so the

class sizes are small to give the students more

chances to interact with the teacher and classmates, to practice fluency and pronunciation. KPU also operates a buddy system for students to help them practice their Korean outside of the classroom.

Teaching Philosophy

At KPU learning is paramount. We want the best for our students so we have designed our courses accordingly. The Korean Language Program at KPU is no different. We have developed a syllabus that covers all 4 language skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Within these skills we will cover linguistic skills such as grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and fluency. The course emphasizes the development of practical language abilities through a rich assortment of learning-engaged activities. The program provides students with a structured, yet flexible, creative learning environment that has a strong emphasis on individualized attention and education.
