Applying for the Foreigner Registration

If a foreigner wants to stay in Korea more than 90 days from entry date, the person should personally visit the immigration service or its branch office, which oversees one's place of residence, of Korea Immigration Service, and then register as a foreigner and receive a certificate of foreigner registration. The issued certificate of foreign registration can be used as ID in Korea.

Issuance of Foreigner Registration Card Necessity

Foreigners who want to stay in Korea more than 90 days from entry date or are permitted their visa status change.
Application Period
within 90 days from the date of their entry into Korea
Place of Application
An immigration (branch) office in the area where the applicant resides
Required documents
passport, one color photograph (size: 3*4, white-color background), certificate of registration

Foreigner Registration Card Re-issuance Cards will only be reissued under following circumstances

- Lost or Stolen Registration Cards
- Damaged Registration Card
- Lack of Space for Necessary Information
- Changes in Details on the Existing Card (name, sex, birth, date, or nationality)

Application form, Passport, one color photograph (3§¯ ¡¿ 4§¯)
Old foreigner Registration Card(if existing card is rendered useless from wear/tear, lack of space, or change of details)
