1) Student who signed up for the insurance individually – in Korea or in student’s home country

Please submit the copy of insurance certificate and its policy to International Relations Center.

※ Notes: The insurance should cover for at least USD 10000 for injuries and accidents caused in Korea.

2) Student who wants to sign up for Korea’s National Health Insurance

National Health Insurance is the policy the government proceeds under the law. It is the social security system with reliable insurance services to improve national health against illness and injuries through diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, births and deaths. If you are a foreigner living in Korea with your family, the government recommends you to sign up for National Health Insurance that gives benefits to the whole family with one family member signing up.

You can apply for National Health Insurance by going to the nearest National Health Insurance Corporation. For more information, please contact National Health Insurance Corporation (1577-1000 or http://www.nhic.or.kr)

Students can receive discount benefits at every hospital.

- In case of hospitalization, approx. 20% of medical expenses needs to be paid.

- In case of treatment at a clinic, approx. 30% of medical expenses needs to be paid.

- In case of treatment at a hospital, approx. 40% of medical expenses needs to be paid.

- In case of treatment at a general hospital approx. 60% of medical expenses needs to be paid.

- Approximately KRW 30000 /month (monthly payment)

- The policyholder must pay retroactive to the date of alien registration

3) Student can join the insurance introduced by TUKOREA. Please contact International Relations Center if you need help regarding the application.

- Accidental Death and Physical Impediment Indemnity: Full compensation within the limit

- Accidental Medical Expenses Indemnity: Full compensation within the limit

- Sickness Medical Expenses Indemnity: Full compensation within the limit

except KRW 30000 to KRW 100000 at the student's expense
